Tally for ATEM Switchers and Android

I wrote a Android Tally App for the ATEM TVs.

There is still a lot of work until it can be used in a production environment.

You can find the first version in the Google Play Store:

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=AtemTally&c=apps

A short video is on youtube: http://youtu.be/_rFb8qcCk-w

I have only an ATEM TVs. It would be great if someone can make a test with the bigger models of the switcher and give me some feedback.

More than 5?

Neat idea!

Does each device establish/maintain a connection to the ATEM or to another helper app?

The next version needs only

The next version needs only one connection to the ATEM and will work without another helper app. At the moment every device establishes a direkt connection to the ATEM.

"At the moment every device

"At the moment every device establishes a direct connection to the ATEM".

I think this is a real limitation, because for every tally you loose one connection for controlling the ATEM. For my opinion two connections are needed for working with an ATEM. One for controlling and one for additional functions like graphics or audio control. Maybe one for traditional tally. So you can only connect two or three "Android Tallys". But the next version seems to be brilliant....

How is developement going?

I'm interested in using the tally-app in a small setup in a few months. How is the new version doing, as far as multiple tallys are concerned?

Greetings!

Wireless Android Tally

The name was changed from AtemTally to WirelessTally but it seems to have been deleted from the PlayStore. I had been using it and then it stopped working. Contacted the developer who said he had the same problem and was going to fix it. But he never did and now it is gone. It is a pity for it was very useful and simple.

Tally

I think the best thing would be if somebody wrote an app like this that works with Just Macros.
This way it is only the Just Macros computer connected to the ATEM with all the tally devices connecting to the computer.

Wireless Android Tally

Writing a Just Macros script is probably a good idea. However the WirelessTally app was really useful in situations like ourselves where we don't need a computer. All we need is a $50 router and old Android mobile phones and bingo you' have wireless preview and program tally on your cameras. Wish that someone would write an other app like that.

In the mean time I am working on putting a $5 garage remote controller system to work as a wireless tally  for our mobile camera. But to do that you need to first get the tally info out of the ATEM which in our case is easy as we use the Android METAControl app on a tablet to drive the ATEM and are using the associated METATally system to drive our wired tally lights. All around a most cost effective system.

my problem

My problem has been trying to get wireless devices to stay connected to the ATEM as it only copes with a limited number of reconnects.

Your garage remote sounds like an interesting project. Would be interested to see the details when you have finished.

Wireless tally

Hi Tim,
We never had a problem with the tablet staying connected to the router.

I have started a new post with details of our wireless tally system.
