Soften MASK effect with Just Macros

Tele Ho!

Hi to all,

I have a question related to proper syntax in Just macros, and a bit of "how to" related to it:

I am using ATEM 1 M/E production Studio. Controling is done with Justmacros.

For the sport events I use "full screen" graphics presented with data&timing sofware. This tool is quite powerful, but it lacks some "broadcast usability". So when i need just part of the graphisc (example just running time) i need to mask that out from the "full screen picture". It is failry easy to do that with JM.

Things start to be a bit overwhelming for me when i try to create some JM sytnax for either soft (disolve/mix alike) transiton of the USK from full screen to masked and back. I would be happy if someone can give me some steering into the right direction.

Thank you in advace...

Tricky to give an answer to

Tricky to give an answer to this.

But a sequence like this sounds about right. It will mix Key 2 on ME1 on and off, regardless of the current state of the ME Bank, and it'll return the ME to it's original setting afterwards.

saga continues

Tele ho!

Hi John,

thank you for your time and reply.

The code you provided is cool. It works great if I need to put "full screen GFX" in PGM softly. Great stuff.

But the tricky part is when I want only to show masked part of the GFX, going straight from "full page" to "masked" state. At this stage I use a simple solution - one button defines mask, but it happens instantly. I tried to use some For statements, but failed miserably. :)

thank you for hint!

Soften effect works!!

Tele ho!

Hi to all,

to resume the debate from above; it is now easy to get nice "dislove" effect with the GFX.  Thank You so much John for the "missing bit of code", as well as for the full software!

The second part now is to get the same effect with the mask...

Not sure what you mean by

Not sure what you mean by Mask? Are you referring to the USK Masking feature?

USK Mask On/Off

Yes sir, that is exactley what i am after.

I use  Key1 as full screen GFX, but then i need to mask a certain part of it.  I would like get some transition from "full screen" to masked and vice versa. At this stage I have a simple button, which defines the mask area and it basicaly turn mask on or off. So the "start" and the "end" is "OK". But the change is quite abrupt "cut-alike" effect, and this is what i would like to avoid in the future. I am quite shure there is a way, but I am stuck here and cannot figure out the right approach towards the problem .

Thank you for your kind reply...

There are several ways to do

There are several ways to do it.

If you can use a DVE on the Key, I would set up two Key Frames, So set your mask to 0, 0, 0, 0 and Store that as Key Frame A. Apply you mask and Store that as Key Frame B, and then transition between the two states, using "Run To Key Frame A or B"

However...... this generates a DVE move, so the sides of the Graphic will move in and out, this isn't a Mix style fade.

To do a Mix between Masked and None Masked, you need to do a "Key Swap", so you configure Key 3 to be the same as Key 2 but Masked, then do almost the same as above but with Keys 2 and 3 in the next transition instead of just the Key you are bringing on and off air.

BIG THANKS - So many questions aren't about vision mixing, this is actually an operational vision mixing question, and what I built Just Macros to do.

closer and closer...

Tele ho!

Hi John,

i have still so many questions in my pocket :)

The "Run to key" method has been my first try even before asking, but for my purpose it look even more ugly as "cut".

Working on the key swapping now...

TNX for hints and a cool tool!!!
