GoPro Hero 5 vs ATEM Television Studio HD HDMI/SDI Results

Hi,

like to share results of tests i performed using a GoPro Hero 5 and the anATEM Television Studio HD.

I would say that the HDMI of the GoPro sems to be a little shortened/restircted. Based on some YouTube clips and forums i did expect that hence i wanted to ensure i know what to expect on a live job :)

So i did test via HDMI and/or SDI, straight and via 3 different converter. An Decimator MD-LX, Datavideo DAC-70 and Decimator MD-CROSS v2

Here is the overview: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NaHlySFYCQOQ4DXcjV9rRdu_ceEkk_EJ...

you can filter on the different values in the top row.

Along the test i noticed that disconnecting the HDMI on the GoPro and reconnecting is sometimes not enough and the cam needs to be restarted to connect with new values.

With HDMI and no additional Device it only woks if the ATEM is set to 1080p/29,97 or 720p/59.94 but NOT with 1080i/59,94 or 1080p/59.94

If you want or need the ATEM set to 1080i/59.94 you need a Device that can change Framerate like the MD-CROSS, DAC-70, MD-HX.

If you want or need the ATEM set to 1080p/59.94 you need a Device like the MD-LX crossconverter at least.

I plan to also run some tests using BMD mini and micro converters

May the information be helpfull :)
