ATEM 2ME - Projection RGB Issues. Help!

Hey guys!

I'm having a weird recurring problem and I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me.

I do local live events at various hotels, and I'm coming out of an ATEM 2ME 4K.

I come out using Program SDI, into an SDI to HDMI converter, into various hotel projectors.

The Projectors DON'T have SDI but they DO have HDMI.

For some reason, the projectors will not show the Red channel. The colors always come out wrong.

Colors are FINE on all my monitors, TVs, etc. Just the projector is wrong.

If I hook in directly with HDMI from the switcher as well, I get the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Your projectors are locked

Your projectors are locked into RGB colour space, and the ATEM is delivering YCbCr to your projectors. Google "Rec709" for a more detailed description. You'll often see the problem referred to as YUV to RGB, although this is strictly speaking incorrect unless you are running in Standard definition analog.

The projector MIGHT / SHOULD have a setting that lets you switch between RGB and YUV, otherwise, you need to find an HDMI->VGA convertor which will do the colour-space conversion and go into the projector that way. HDMI does support the RGB colour space, but the ATEM doesn't, HDMI carries many formats of video, it's up to the devices at either end to choose what they support.

The MD-HX from Decimator

The MD-HX from Decimator Designs will let you set the color space output of the HDMI to RGB444, which should allow you to use the hotel projectors without having to change their onboard settings.

Awesome guys thanks for the

Awesome guys thanks for the help!

It's important that this comes out of the ATEM via an Aux Out so that way I can change the screen independently of the broadcast mix.

Would the decimator or the VGA conversion work just as well coming out of the end of an SDI to HDMI converter and into the projector?

Thanks guys this could be a huge help, I really appreciate it.

Hey JGamens632, The Decimator

Hey JGamens632,

The Decimator allows for SDI to HDMI conversion so you could just run an SDI cable all the way to the projector and convert through the Decimator to HDMI and go straight into the projector!

You can also go HDMI in and out through the decimator if you'd prefer it - but with the first option, you will save the extra convertor for somewhere else in your setup!
